3. Missouri River “Breaks” Trip

3. Missouri River “Breaks” Trip

per person

If you have a desire to experience the river and countryside little changed from what Lewis and Clark saw 200 years ago as they prepared to portage around the Great   Falls, try this exciting trip.  Our “Breaks” raft trip lets you see a remote area of coulees, bluffs, breaks, and undeveloped badlands-like country, with only one inhabited building along the way.  It is easy to visualize what the Corps of Discovery experienced as they traveled up this river for the first time in 1805.  This trip is a great choice for the person interested in wildlife, bird life, Lewis and Clark history, the adventure of a few moderate rapids, and a desire to see a beautiful stretch of river that has changed little in appearance since the days of Lewis and Clark. Historic Sites include: Sulphur Springs, Portage Creek, and the Lower Portage campsite.  This half-day float takes about 5 hours total time, with about half the time floating down the river.  The launch site is only 30 minutes from Great Falls with the take out about an hour from town.
